There are a number of great coffee roasteries in Johannesburg and new ones are popping up each and everyday. In this guide we’ll highlight a few standout companies in this post which we like to call “the Best Coffee Bean Companies in Johannesburg”. Green Bean Coffee Roastery
Green Bean (who we have featurd a number of times) is probably our favourite micro roaster in Johannesburg. Based at Casalinga, Green Bean’s signature ziplock coffee packaging can be found at a number of retail outlets as well as at a select number of specialist sellers and markets. If you are looking for either single Origin African Coffee or an assortment of all African coffee blends, green bean might be the place for you.
4th Avenue coffee roasters
4th Ave Coffee roasters is one of the oldest coffee bean suppliers in South Africa and is besed in the quaint yet bustling suburb of Parkhurst. If you want to see and smell your coffee roasting right in front of your eyes then it is well worth a trip to this little gem. Besides for roasting coffee beans for itself, 4th Avenue also supplies a number of coffee shops within and outside of the Parkhurst area. Try their legendary Pink blend for only R240/kg
Double Shot Coffee and Tea
Double is located in the trendy area of Braamfontein and is one of the best up and coming roasters and coffee bean suppliers in Johannesburg. Double shot sells four signature blends of which three are of South American origin. DCST also offers a great range of craft ice teas and even provides a coffee bar service for functions and events.
Although Motherland is not a roaster themselves we had to feature them on this list as their coffee is just that good. Motherland are famous for their two all African blends, all prepared by some of the best Baristas in South Africa. Motherland’s first store opened in the mall of Rosebank and their second followed shortly after. Watch this space for more Motherland stores opening up in an area near you.
Heavenly Coffees, are based in Centurion, however their beans can be found all around Johannesburg which warranted their inclusion in this list. Hevenly coffees have 7 blends in their range including their famous big five collection where a portion of the proceeds is donated to wildlife conservation efforts.Besides for selling awesome coffee, Heavenly coffee also sells a range of coffee machines including Jura, Melitta and Saeco.
